Searching for your pot of gold? Ireland trekking may just be it! As you hike along the various trails of Ireland you will not only take in breathtaking views, but medieval castles, ancient monasteries, beehive huts, Celtic Crosses, and, of course, pubs filled with Guinness, friendly Irish people and enchanting Celtic music. These pathways meander through mountainous regions where you may come across corrie lakes, mountain streams and wooded foothills. Rugged coastline trails may find you walking on the stone steps of Giant’s Causeway, looking out over the Cliffs of Moher or hiking along one of the most beautiful places in the world, the Dingle Peninsula. Some trails are short and just for day hikes while others are longer multi-day treks, attracting everyone from the beginning hiker to the avid trekker. At night you can choose to stay at B&B’s, camp at camp sites and/or wild camp where permitted. Wild camping is not strictly legal, but tolerated in many upland and remote areas.
Get fit to trek along the many pathways of Ireland that may lead you to the Cliffs of Moher, Dingle Peninsula, Giants Cause way and more. With a sound mind and body you will be able to tell the leprechauns from the fairies!

Fred and Donna Austin: Fred and Donna Austin, continue expanding the series of British Footpath guide books (covering England, Wales, Scotland, and Ireland), started by their friend Richard Hayward, who stumbled upon his first waymarked British footpath in 1974, and continued happily following these paths to the end of his life. His love for these gentle pathways have helped many discover their own serendipitous journeys through his walking classes and his walking guidebooks. Fred Austin continues to teach these classes at North Seattle Community College in the Continuing Education department.
